Shaping the Future invites you to join the Official Project Launch with guest speaker Edwina Hart, MBE OStJ AM, Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science on Thursday 26th April 2012, 11.45am at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Shaping the Future is a unique talent management programme that focuses on the development of an entire region. It is designed to create new jobs in North West Wales that take advantage of the high concentration of engineering and technical expertise present in the North Wales nuclear power industry. These power stations are soon to be decommissioned, seeing North West Wales lose two large employers and key components of the regional infrastructure. We aim to offset this by retraining the stations' employees in the skills of the future in key target industries - such as renewable power and tourism - and promoting the region as a hub of talent and ability.

The official launch will bring together a range of dignitaries from the political and business worlds to shine a spotlight on North West Wales as an outstanding location where businesses can operate, drawing upon a highly skilled workforce. It will showcase the high levels of technical skills belonging to the region's workforce.

The unique approach of putting human development at the heart of economic success has attracted significant funding from the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government, Anglesey and Gwynedd Councils and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

Menter Môn, the accountable body for Shaping the Future, is a non-profit company, which operates extensively across the North West Wales region, delivering a range of EU economic development projects and a variety of enterprise contracts on behalf of public sector commissioners.  The success of our project could lead to a new method of investing in human potential across the continent, so we're absolutely committed to maximising our chances of success.
